Abstract
The current estimate of the lifetime is obtained by averaging the results of six experiments. We point out problems connected with the conventional approach to combining data and discuss ways of overcoming them. Our recommended value is 1.13±0.15 ps. Our discussion is relevant to a wide range of problems in which data are combined.
