Candida‐septicemia with chorioretinitis, osteomyelitis and arthritis treated with systemic miconazole and intraarticular amphotericin B

Abstract
Summary: A 21 months old boy operated for Wilms tumor developed a disseminated Candida infection with septicemia, chorioretinitis, arthritis and osteomyelitis following cytostatic treatment. The chorioretinitis and osteomyelitis healed during systemic treatment with miconazole orally for three months, and the arthritis responded to intraarticular injections with amphotericin B.Zusammenfassung: Ein 21 Monate alter Junge, der an einem Wilms Tumor operiert worden war, entwickelte im Anschluβ an die cytostatische Behandlung eine disseminierte Candida‐Infektion mit Septicaemia, Chororetinitis, Arthritis und Osteomyelitis. Die Chorioretinitis und Osteomyelitis heilten während der dreimonatigen Behandlung mit Miconazole per os aus. Die Arthritis reagierte auf intraarticuläre Injektionen mit Amphotericin B.Keywords
