Abstract
Six elements of disease control are specified. The difficulties which accident research has encountered in each of these are reviewed. The primary impediments are in the areas of developing a taxonomy of signs and symptoms and in accident process analysis. The need for direct evidence of the events preceding the trauma is stressed, as well as for the technology to obtain such data. Keywords
