Abstract
The following three papers were presented at a recent master class held in association with Smith and Nephew. The first presents a guide to the appraisal of published data focusing on risk assessment tools and grading systems. The second highlights the need for randomised controlled clinical trials to provide high-quality evidence for the use of pressure-redistributing support surfaces, while the third paper discusses the need for the development and implementation of pressure sore guidelines that have been based on high-quality evidence.
