Abstract
The zero resistance and the complete Meissner effect of the Y-Ba-Cu-O system have been observed. It was found that the compound system includes three phases depending on the composition of the elements, and two of them are conductors responsible for the superconductivity. Crystallographically the two conducting phases belong to the body-centered-tetragonal symmetry. A tentative model is given for the origin of superconductivity. Keywords
