Abstract
Patients suffering from functional gastrointestinal disorders are likely to search elsewhere when conventional therapies fail them. Enthusiasm for complementary and alternative medicine use and research is clearly growing. Studies of acupuncture and herbal therapy for functional gastrointestinal disorders in the Western literature have often been limited by poor study design but these interventions may have promise and are discussed here. Keywords
