Severe Cervical Myelopathy due to Diffuse Hypertrophy of the Crvical Posterior Longitudinal Ligament

Abstract
There have been many experimental and clinical studies of cervical myelopathy due to ossification of the cervical posterior or longitudinal ligament. Case reports of cervical myelopathy due to hypertrophy of the cervical posteior longitudinal ligament, however, are rare.1,4–6,8,9,16 We encountered a very rare cae of severe cervical myelopathy due to extensive continuous hypertrophy of this ligament without disc herniatin. We report this case here and discuss the imaging findings (including Gadolinium-diethylenetriamenepentaacetic acid contrast magnetic resonance imaging [MRI] and contrast computed tomography [CT]) and the pathology of this disease.
