Abstract
In the blastoderm of chick embryos up to the third day of incubation, lipase is found only in the vitelline endoderm, the large cells of which show a strong lipase reaction. From the 3d day a positive reaction appears in the fore- and midgut, and in canalicular and hepatic cells of the hepatic rudiment. Later it also appears in the pancreatic bud, in the rest of the gut and in the glandular stomach. Some mesenchymal cells show a positive reaction which is evident in the perichordal sheath, in the endocardial cushions, in the precartilaginous blastoma, and in those places where adipose tissue formation takes place. The metanephros and mesonephros show a weak and inconstant reaction. Keywords
