The ultra-violet spectrum of oxyhaemoglobin

Abstract
In agreement with earlier work solutions of oxyhemoglobin prepared by ether-lysis of the bloods of various spp. show absorption in the u.v. over the range 4300-3900 A with a max. at 4100 A. Unlaked blood shows no such absorption. It is concluded that there is an essential difference between oxyhemoglobin inside and outside the erythrocyte.
