Abstract
What regulates the ribosome, the protein synthesis factory of the cell? In a Perspective, Sachs and Geballe discuss new findings (Gong and Yanofsky) that reveal how certain newly forming peptides are able to halt the ribosome from within, for the purpose of controlling gene expression.Keywords
