Abstract
The body temperature of 18 female rabbits was recorded once a day for about 3 months. Three of these rabbits demonstrated a statistically significant cyclic variation in temperature, the mean length of the cycles varying from 6 to 11 days. The observed cyclic variations persisted after ovariectomy with cyclicity appearing in two additional animals. In 6 out of 8 rabbits the mean body temperature decreased significantly upon removal of the ovaries. Keywords
