Abstract
As a part of a general program to determine the applicability of linear orthotropic stability theory to the design of stiffened cylinders under various loading conditions, a theoretical and experimental investigation was performed on the general instability of orthotropic cylinders under hydrostatic pressure. Experimental results obtained herein have shown that the use of linear orthotropic theory results in accurate predictions of cylinder stability over a wide range of geometric parameters. Keywords
