Alumina solid Lewis superacid: activated benzene and isomerization of alkanes on aluminas chlorinated at high temperature

Abstract
Alumina solid Lewis superacids, prepared by high temperature chlorination of γ-alumina, activate benzene to yield a charge-transfer π-complex and selectively isomerize cyclohexane, pentane, and butane to methylcyclopentane, 2-methylbutane, and 2-methylpropane, respectively, at 303 K.
