Abstract
Cats curarized with dihydro- beta-erythroidine hydrobromide after anesthetization were subjected to high partial pressures of O2 up to 6 atm. (75 psi, gauge). Cortical pH changes were noted 2-3.5 min. after a pressure of 1 atm. (15 psi, gauge) was reached, and the acidity continued to increase until a pressure of 6 atm. (75 psi, gauge) was reached. At this point the pH change amounted to 0.25-0.53 units. The authors consider that changes in brain pH might be indicative of changes in brain p CC2. Shifts in pH toward the acid always occurred prior to the onset of seizures. Keywords
