Abstract
In a multicentre double-blind randomized parallel-group study, 48 patients with mycologically proven tinea pedis were treated with either oncedaily applications of terbinafine 1% cream or placebo for 2 weeks. The mycological cure rate at follow-up 4 weeks after completing treatment, was 81% for terbinafine compared with 45% for placebo (P = 0.01, Fisher's exact test, one tailed). Only one adverse event, an erythematous rash in a terbinafine-treated patient, was thought to be related to treatment. Topical terbinafine 1% cream used once daily for 2 weeks was shown to be an effective and well-tolerated treatment for tinea pedis. Keywords
