Pterygium in Qatar

Abstract
The incidence of pterygium in Qatar is 6.2%, less than expected. Laying stress on the climatic conditions, the etiological factors were discussed. A modified bare scleral technique followed by .beta.-irradiation was used for 450 cases of pterygium. No recurrence occurred in 90% following the 1st operation. The final good result (98.8%) was in favor of the adopted surgical technique and post-operative care.
