Abstract
A concept of community health is presented as the goal of community development. The four attributes used to define community health are: (1) attitudes and values, (2) capacities, (3) organizational structures and (4) leadership. The implications of using community health as a variable in measuring program success and for the training of community development practitioners are spelled out. Future steps necessary for the construction of scales to measure community health are indicated. Keywords
