Abstract
Complete studies of liver function were carried out on 25 patients receiving cortisone in total dosages varying from 1.6 to 10.3 g. The liver studies were done before, during and after completion of cortisone therapy and included the following tests: thymol turbidity, serum bilirubin, van den Bergh, icterus index, prothrombin time, total serum cholesterol, cholesterol-ester ratio, total serum proteins and AG ratio, bromsulfalein test and serum esterase. There was no indication that cortisone produced any significant change in liver function. The minor changes noted in thymol turbidity, total serum cholesterol-ester ratio and serum esterase were discussed. Keywords
