Abstract
The role of the analyticity of the running QCD coupling constant in the description of the inclusive decay of a τ lepton into hadrons is investigated. It is shown that the analyticity of the coupling constant strongly influences the values extracted for both α s and the parameter Λ from the experimental data on τ decay. Keywords
