Abstract
Although most of Seri traditional music is vocal, instrumental music occurs both as a solo form and as accompaniment to dancing and singing. This paper describes the manufacture and use of native instruments and the role of instrumental music in Seri culture. Because Western instruments and music have begun to replace traditional forms, the present status of Seri music is discussed in terms of external influence. Keywords
