Abstract
(Continued)* Step 5. Entry of thyroid hormone into the tissues. This facet — the course of events between the circulation of the protein-bound hormones and their entry into the cells — represents one of the major unsolved parameters. The various approaches to this problem may be outlined as follows:Administration of I131-labeled compounds (iodide, thyroxine, triiodothyronine, tyrosines and so forth) to a patient or laboratory animal with or without functioning thyroid tissue, followed by:Quantitative determination of the amount and rate of its exit from the plasma, its biliary, salivary, urinary and fecal excretion and over-all turnover orQualitative . . .Keywords
