To the Editor: The use of nitroglycerin-impregnated adhesive patches has become widespread in patients with chronic angina. By leaching out a steady supply of nitroglycerin over a full day, these patches permit the patient a protection that is similar to that obtained with the previously developed nitroglycerin ointment. I recently saw a patient who somehow managed to acquire an entirely new syndrome in her enthusiasm for this convenient product.The patient was an 80-year-old woman who was admitted to the St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center with unstable angina in August 1983.
