Tormentic Acid, a New Hypoglycemic Agent fromPoterium ancistroides

Abstract
The hypoglycemic activity of Poterium ancistroides Desf. (Rosaceae) was studied. An active principle with a triterpene structure, tormentic acid, was isolated and elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Likewise, its hypoglycemie activity was established and compared with that of glibenclamide.
