Abstract
A technique for total mastectomy with complete axillary dissection [to treat breast cancer], which uses division of the insertion of the insertion of the sternal portion of the pectoralis major muscle, preservation of its innervation, reconstruction after completion of the dissection and resection of the pectoralis minor muscle has been evaluated for 115 consecutive procedures [on humans]. This modification facilitates a thorough axillary dissection, while preserving the cosmetic and functional benefits of the Patey operation. This publication has 20 references indexed in Scilit:
