Formation ofHΛ4hypernuclei fromKabsorption at rest on light nuclei

Abstract
Formation of HΛ4 hypernuclei from K absorption at rest on light nuclear targets was studied by measuring monochromatic π's from the two-body decay, HΛ4He4+π. The formation probabilities of HΛ4 from He4, Li7, Be9, C12, and O16 targets were extracted to be (0.74±0.10)×102, (3.0±0.4)×102, (1.57±0.18)×102, (1.00±0.14)×102, and (0.47±0.08)×102 per stopped K, respectively. Possible mechanisms for the production of HΛ4 are discussed.
