Abstract
A study was made of the health status of persons who considered themselves free from disease. Multiphasic examinations carried out in 10,709 apparently healthy subjects showed that 92 % had either organic or functional disease. Malignancy was detected in 77 (0.72%), and all those questioned about it stated they had been unaware of it. Cardiopathy was found in 804 examinees, the most frequent form (26.5%) being myocardial disease. The data indicated the importance of systematic health examinations and suggested ways of establishing a base line of what to expect in various age groups. Keywords
