Abstract
The tropics, because they are a region into which plant activites are rarely limited by temperature, offer unique advantages for the study of certain branches of ecology. The richness of the flora and the relatively sparse human population of large parts of the tropics also offer special advantages for certain kinds of ecological work, some of which are discussed. The future of ecological research in the tropics is briefly considered and the need for a number of small, suitably sited research stations is stressed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
