Abstract
Data on the photocurrent and the electric field quenching of fluorescence in photoionized solutions of TMPD in nonpolar liquids are used to compute the field dependent escape probability by means of the Onsager theory. A discriminating procedure between possible initial separation distances distribution functions is suggested. The primary quantum yield for ion pair creation φip is calculated and shown to depend upon the type of distribution function chosen. Both the distance parameter and φip are shown to vary with the excitation energy.
