Abstract
The anterior superior alveolar nerve reaches the nasolacrimal duct, and sends fibers anteriorly, posteriorly and upward encircling the hamster incisor tooth. The posterior branch supplies the pulp of the incisor. Microscopic analysis of histologic sections showed that the metabolic state of the nerves of the hamster incisor follows the metabolic activity of tissues in different parts of the tooth. In the mesenchymal type of tissue of the basal third of the incisor growing fibers with endings of various shapes were observed. The middle third with its more mature type pulpal tissue showed mature myelinated fibers closely associated with the blood vessels. In the degenerating tissue of the incisal third of the tooth degenerating nerve fibers were prominent. Keywords
