Abstract
A microscopic nonequilibrium theory is applied to investigate the dynamical response of semiconductormicrocavity lasers for ultrashort optical pulse excitation. It is predicted that femtosecond pulse induced carrier heating leads to picosecond switching and recovery of the laser emission.Keywords
