The analysis of electrified ground transportation networks

Abstract
The analysis of a transportation network presents two special problems: • The positions of its electrical loads are continually changing. • Some or all of it may operate at dc while the parent network in which it is imbedded and from which it draws its power, operates at 60 Hz. When confronted with these problems conventional power system analysis procedures become either inapplicable or inconvenient to use. This paper presents alternative methods and computer algorithms that are better suited to the analysis of transportation networks.
