Abstract
The adsorption of titanium and zirconium on Amerlite‐IR 120 and the elution curves at various acidities have been discussed. The elution curves of zirconium were found to change in an irregular manner, while those of titanium in a regular manner at acidities ranging from 0.75 N to 1.25 N. The abrupt change of amount of titanium and zirconium eluted with the eluate volume furnished a strong support to the view of change of ionic species. By using 0.75 N sulfuric acid as an eluent, the author has succeeded in separating a mixture of titanium and zirconium. The results showed that more than 90% of titanium‐free Zirconium could be isolated by a single elution.
