Abstract
A study has been made of the reactivity and polarization characteristics of pure aluminum in buffered and alkaline solutions of potassium ferricyanide and in sodium hydroxide. Electrode potentials, weight loss data, and polarization curves are presented; it is shown that the reaction of aluminum with these electrolytes may be interpreted from an electrochemical point of view. The analysis of the polarization behavior is based on the theory of the “mixed potential.”Keywords
