Diurnal Measurements of Plasma Chloride in Catfish

Abstract
Channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) or blue-channel catfish hybrids (I. furcatus .times. I. punctatus) were used and blood was taken from at least 6 fish every 6 h and continued for 24 h. The initial sample time was repeated the following day and the sequence of bleeding each fish was recorded to detect any change due to disturbance of the fish during the experiment. Diurnal variation of plasma chloride was not found during any season nor under any of the environmental conditions examined.
