Abstract
Tablets of estriol, equilenin, [alpha]- and [beta]-dihydroequilenin, each 5 mm. in diam. and 18-48 mg., were implanted into the spleen of 51 castrated [female] guinea pigs. These were autop-sied 90 days later. The results were compared with those from subcut. implanted tablets of urinary estrogen on a basis of arbitrary units from 0.5-12. A fibrous tumoral effect (F.T.E.) of 8-10 was attained from subcut. estriol. equilenin or o-dihydroequilenin; an F.T.E. less than 1 oc-curred following absorption from the spleen. The liver inactivated urinary estrogens although not always completely as seen from the avg. uterine wt.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
