Abstract
Electrodiagnostic studies carried out before contrast radiography and surgery in 11 patients with cerebellopontine angle tumors showed abnormality of the early blink response on the involved side in every case. Abnormality of the late reflex component on the noninvolved side after stimulation of the involved side, indicating trigeminal nerve dysfunction, occurred in eight cases. The reverse, indicating facial nerve involvement, was found in two cases. Facial nerve dysfunction was evident in five other cases on the basis of an abnormal direct facial response or abnormal electromyography. The study indicates that simple, harmless electrodiagnostic procedures are of value in the initial investigation of suspected cerebellopontine angle lesions. Keywords
