Abstract
Practical considerations do not always allow cleaning and inspection of plant to be carried out in an effective manner, and some general-purpose detergents and penetrating sterilizing solutions, used cold, are inadequate in attempting to deal with yeast deposits. Hydrogen peroxide can cause circulation of solutions used to soak deposits of yeast, so that the deposits rise into suspension; the bactericidal action of a quaternary ammonium compound can thus be facilitated under conditions in which either sterilant alone would be unsuccessful. Keywords
