Abstract
The author presents an account of fibre architecture from the point of view of the polymer chemist. The latest developments in fibre science, such as the idea of “compliance” to explain such elusive properties as draping quality, handle and resistance to wear are discussed in considerable detail. The possibilities regarding the production in the future of “segmented” polymer fibres closely imitating wool and silk are outlined. Keywords
