Abstract
Impairment of respiratory function is one of the most serious complications of both complete cervical cord injury and stroke with hemiplcgia. This review updates the information first gathered 15 years ago. The overall improvement in prognosis is documented and the methods of treatment, including diaphragmatic pacing and physiotherapy are discussed. Keywords
