Abstract
The use of a high-performance chelation ion chromatographic system incorporating a single chelating dyestuff-treated column for the combined preconcentration and separation of trace metals in sea-water is described. A Xylenol Orange-impregnated resin was used to determine the ‘labile dissolved’ concentrations of ZnII, PbII, NiII and CuII in local samples at low µg dm–3 levels. The quantitative performance was assessed through standard additions calibration and analysis of CASS-2 coastal sea-water certified reference material. Keywords
