This study is concerned with the hydrologic effects of cutting small patches of less than 1 acre (4,000 m2) in size in the lodgepole pine zone on the eastern slope of the Colorado Front Range. There are approx 14,500,000 acres (58,700 km2) of lodgepole pine forest in the United States and approx 2,100,000 acres (8,500 km2) in Colorado.
