Abstract
particles were observed in coincidence with energetic protons that resulted from bombardment of with 191-MeV ions. The multiplicities of the coincident particles and their dependence on the angle of the gating energetic protons are consistent with the existence of two principal reaction processes of comparable magnitude yielding energetic protons: (1) disintegration of the projectile and (2) preequilibrium emission with the remaining projectile mass fusing with the target usually at low excitation energy.
