The Spread of Tularemia through Water, as a New Factor in Its Epidemiology

Abstract
Rodents are the chief sources of infection of tularemia, and the modes of spread are being investigated. In 1935 an outbreak in Russia was found to originate in a water course. The epidemiology is described. The portal of entry of infection was the mouth. 3 forms of illness were demonstrated: anginal, typhoid and glandular-ocular. There was no correlation between morbidity and sex or age. The number of microorganisms in the water was frequently so great that isolation was comparatively simple.
