Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss current methods of measurement and assessment of straightness, flatness, roundness, and surface texture. Possible future developments will also be discussed. Each method will be discussed on the following bases: scope, accuracy, information available, and cost and convenience of obtaining data. Keywords
