Abstract
We report a study of the bremsstrahlung isochromat spectroscopy (BIS) spectra of Mg, Al, and Si. In these elements inelastic scattering contributions are strong and concentrated in sharp plasmons. However, it is shown by using the appropriate loss function for BIS taken from photoemission experiments that even in these elements there are features related to structure in the density of electronic states (DOS) up to quite high energies in the BIS spectra. The DOS structure and extended isochromat fine structure are discussed. Keywords
