Clinical Laboratory Study of Cephacetrile and Cephalothin Against Bacteria Recently Isolated from Clinical Specimen

Abstract
Cephacetrile, a new semisynthetic cephalosporin derivative, was studied in the clinical microbiology setting against 2,060 bacteria from patients’ specimens by the agar diffusion method. The evaluation, which emphasized comparison with cephalothin, also included agar dilution studies of 230 bacteria. Results indicate great similarity in the responses of most bacteria to both derivatives. Enterococci showed greater susceptibility to cephacetrile.
