Dinosaur egg‐laying and nesting: The case of an Upper Maastrichtian site at Rennes‐le‐Chateau (Aude, France)

Abstract
A 50 m2 excavation in arbitrary horizontal layers has revealed dinosaur “nests”; in the Upper Maastrichtian continental deposits (Rognacian) at Rennes‐le‐Château (Aude) containing more than 100 eggs, 98% of which had hatched. These dinosaurs laid their eggs on the ground in herbaceous vegetation: At least three successive episodes of egg‐laying, separated by deposition and erosion, are recorded at this site.
