Abstract
There seems to be a direct relationship between the percentage of calves in the half stage of mammary gland develop-ment at 4 mos. of age and the earliness of maturity for that particular breed. There was no direct relationship between the mammary gland measurements of heifers at 2, 3, 4, or 5 mos. of age and the milk production of the dams. Stattstical analysis of the relationship between mammary gland measurements and body wt. of heifers gives a highly significant relationship at 4 and 5 mos. of age. Under the conditions of this study the size of the mammary tissue is related in part to the size of the animal at these ages. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
