Abstract
Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the role of cold temperature conditioning and host material on termination of reproductive diapause of female Pissodes strobi. Females exposed to temperatures of 4.4°C, 10°C, 15.5°C and 21.1 °C for periods of 20, 40 and 60 days did not break diapause. However, females fed on Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) terminals under long days matured their ovaries; females on lateral branches continued to have undeveloped ovaries. Males did not show evidence of reproductive diapause. Keywords
