Abstract
With the epidemic rise of genital herpes simplex virus type 2 infections, primary care physicians are increasingly called upon to recognize and treat the physical as well as the psychological symptoms of the disease. In this article, Dr Rose and Ms Camp discuss the epidemiology of this virus, the clinical course and treatment of infections, the associated psychological factors, and the importance of patient education to aid prevention. Keywords
